Expanding Access to Boat Ownership
Tell your representative to cosponsor the bipartisan Boat Loan Interest Deduction Act

Few experiences are more quintessentially American than spending a day on the water with family. Today, 61 percent of boat owners have household incomes of $75,000 or less, and 95 percent of boats in the United States are under 26 feet and towable. These companies support skilled jobs, invest in local communities, and help make American-made boats sought after around the world.

The bipartisan Boat Loan Interest Deduction Act of 2026, introduced by Reps. Rudy Yakym (R-IN) and Don Davis (D-NC), would extend to qualifying boat loans the same kind of support for American-made products that Congress made for qualifying auto loans. The bill would allow taxpayers to deduct up to $10,000 annually in interest on loans for qualifying new recreational boats assembled in the United States. The deduction would be available through 2028 and begin phasing out above $100,000 in modified adjusted gross income for individuals and $200,000 for joint filers.

This bill helps families achieve the dream of boat ownership and supports American manufacturing and small businesses—strengthening a uniquely American industry that proudly builds its products in communities across the United States.

More bipartisan cosponsors are needed to build momentum and move this legislation forward.

Write your member of Congress and urge them to cosponsor the Boat Loan Interest Deduction Act.
