Restore America’s Public Lands and Waters
Tell Congress to pass the bipartisan America the Beautiful Act and strengthen the Legacy Restoration Fund

America’s public lands and waters are where families boat, fish, camp, and experience the outdoors. But access to these shared places depends on safe, reliable infrastructure—from boat ramps, marinas, and docks to roads, campgrounds, and visitor facilities.

The National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund was created through the Great American Outdoors Act in 2020 to repair aging infrastructure and address maintenance needs across federally managed lands and waters. Over its initial five-year authorization, the Fund supported nearly 400 projects in all 50 states, including work to rebuild boat launches, repair marinas, and improve roads and recreation facilities.

The Fund’s authorization expired in September 2025, yet America’s public lands and waters still face an estimated $40 billion maintenance backlog that threatens public access, safety, and the outdoor experiences that support small businesses and local communities. Without renewed investment, aging facilities will make it harder for families to get on the water—and more expensive to restore this infrastructure later.

Congress now has an opportunity to act by passing the America the Beautiful Act, bipartisan legislation that would reauthorize and strengthen the Legacy Restoration Fund.

Reauthorizing and strengthening the Legacy Restoration Fund will help modernize recreation infrastructure, improve boating and fishing access, support conservation, strengthen rural economies, and ensure future generations can continue enjoying America’s public waters.

Write your member of Congress and urge them to pass the bipartisan America the Beautiful Act.
